Even with Labor Day come and gone, it's still so hard to part with our summery floral prints. You can understand how pleasantly surprised I was to find this Fashionista seamlessly carrying floral into fall! For this Fashionista, it’s all about finding that perfect dress, and the rest of her look came from staples in her closest.
Name: Monique Kirtley
Major: French
Year: Sophomore
College Fashionista: What are you wearing?
Monique Kirtley: I’m wearing Sam Edelman sandals, an American Eagle belt and a Blu Pepper dress from a local boutique.
CF: How would you describe your style?
MK: I would consider my style classic and preppy.
CF: Where do you like to shop?
MK: I love J.Crew and their outlet, and Anthropologie and consignment shops for cool, unique finds!
CF: What’s your current obsession in your closet?
MK: My chambray shirt! It's so simple, but it can be casual and fun or dressed up really easily. I love the flexibility of it.
CF: What do you feel your style says about you to others?
MK: I feel like my style says that I'm preppy but still casual and fun and I take my appearance seriously.
CF: Do you have any style icons?
MK: My mom! She has taught me to be conscious of my attire and I grew up shopping with her and watching her get ready, so her sense of style and love of fashion definitely rubbed off on me.
How To: To get a floral look appropriate for fall, look to Suno's fall 2012 collection for inspiration. The key to this outfit is finding the perfect dress. Check out some off the beaten path online shops like Ruche to get that perfect statement dress like this multi-colored, ruffled dress! Stay away from bright neons and pastels and instead focus more on this fall's trend colors. When winter comes, simply throw on some textured tights, long wool socks and boots to keep you warm!
