I spotted this Fashionista sporting one of this season’s hottest trends: pleats. Not only is this one of my personal favorite looks on a blouse or a skirt, but designers like Kate Spade and Calvin Klein seem to agree. Along with the sleek pleats in her blouse, this Fashionista’s mint green top also had a mesh trim. Tops or dresses with a mesh trim are simply perfect for this season, allowing any Fashionista to show some skin without baring it all (and without getting too chilly). Tied together with a turquoise bangle and a multi-colored beaded bracelet, this Fashionista shows that pleats are perfect.

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit.
Rebecca Dougherty: I’m wearing a top from Urban Outfitters, skinny jeans and gray boots. My jewelry, both bracelets, are from a small boutique in Chicago.
CF: What’s your favorite fall trend?
RD: I like statement jewelry, usually bright beaded necklaces. I also really like blazers because they’re good to wear out instead of a jacket and they make an outfit look more polished.
CF: Who or what is your main inspiration for fashion?
RD: I get a lot of ideas from magazines like InStyle and Glamour and shows like Fashion Police on E!
How To: Perfect pleats can be found in a variety of forms like tops, dresses and skirts. This Fashionista’s top with mesh trim is from Urban Outfitters for a price one just can’t pass up! Free People also has a pleated tank that would look fabulous under a blazer or cardigan. You can also rock the pleated look with a skirt paired with your favorite sweater. For CollegeFashionistas who are going for the mesh trimmed look, American Apparel has a fitted dress with mesh trim and Topshop has an adorable polka-dot mesh top.
