This week's Fashionista values clean simplicity. She transforms every day staples with remarkable attention to detail and color. Rising senior Samantha Goodnow says that even the smallest of subtleties, like a great lip color or nail polish, can be the difference between drab and daring.
This week, Samantha pairs classic denim shorts and gladiator sandals with a not-so-classic combination of cut-out and color. She layers her seafoam sheer blouse over a cream-colored tank with cut-out back detail to create a look that is not only comfortable for summer heat, but tastefully edgy as well. She softens the daring details of her form-fitting tank with a more delicate, oversized tunic. Also a great option for day-to-night occasions, adding Samantha's favorite lip color and subtracting the breezy blouse will create an evening-ready outfit with little effort and a lot of edge.
Name: Samantha Goodnow
CollegeFashionista: Where do you typically look to for style inspiration?
Samantha Goodnow: Fashion blogs, I guess. I'm also on Tumblr all the time.
CF: If you had to whittle down your wardrobe to five items what would they be?
SG: My skinny jeans, leggings, an oversized sweater, these sandals and probably a plain oversized T-shirt.
CF: Is there a trend you're looking forward to wearing this summer?
SG: Bright colored shorts!
CF: What is the best style advice you've ever received?
SG: If you don't like it in the store, then you're definitely not going to like it later. Never talk yourself into buying something.
CF: What do you feel best or most confident wearing?
SG: Probably a great pair of heels and a bright or bold lip color.
