Name: Samantha Merrell
Major: Journalism
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit
Samantha Merrell: My outfit incorporates a dressy blouse with casual shorts and a statement necklace. I decided to combine these together to get a laid back but still fashion forward outfit.
CF: What is your favorite store to shop at?
SM: In Iowa City I would have to say my favorite store to shop at is Inbox because it is very eclectic. I would not say I have a favorite store outside of Iowa City
CF: Where do you look to for fashion inspiration?
SM: I am very inspired by fashion bloggers, not so much specific designers. I do not have a specific style; I instead just throw outfits together based upon my mood and what I am currently inspired by.
CF: Did your make your shorts yourself?
SM: Yes I did. It was very easy, all you need is bleach and scissors!
How To: Wear a flowy top so you will not be overheated by something tight, a blouse material makes it easy for your skin to breathe. This past summer many cut off denim shorts were seen as a trend and it is very easy to make your own. Once you have a fashionable and comfortable blouse paired with a unique pair of shorts, look for chunky jewelry and a pair of strappy sandals to complete your look.
