While simplistic ensembles have proven to be chic and professional, this season’s display of sequins, rhinestones, glitter, metallic and anything sparkly has shown that it isn’t just for special occasion or evening wear. I spotted this Fashionista rocking a rhinestone-embellished cardigan with metallic gold sandals. Marc Jacobs' most recent runway show featured an assortment of sequin embellished dresses and skirts. Zara’s fall collection includes metallic and sequin skirts, sequin blazers and dresses. This trend has even gone as far as glitter nail polish and rhinestone clutches. It’s a great way to feel a little glamorous even when going to class!

CollegeFashionisa: Tell me about your outfit.
Samantha Vojtsek: I’m wearing a beige cardigan with rhinestones and a white tank top with jeans. I have gold sandals on and a Marc Jacobs cross-body bag.
CF: What is your main inspiration for fashion?
SV: I mainly get inspiration for my outfits from magazines like InStyle and Glamour. I sometimes turn to my friends as well since we like to borrow each other’s clothes.
CF: What’s your favorite store and why?
SV: My favorite store is H&M because they always have a variety of clothes. They have jackets, tops, dresses, skirts, jeans, everything! It’s also very affordable, yet still on trend for each season.
How To: Adding a little sparkle is eye-catching and fun even for class. Look for a top, cardigan, or sweater with a little sequin or rhinestone detail. Also, a neutral cross-body bag is a necessity for any Fashionista and will most likely become one’s most essential item for day or night. For a night out, go for a full-on sequin blazer or dress!
