Everyone in New York is confused by the monsoon-like weather that's hit the city in the last couple of weeks. The forecast will say cloudy skies but before you know it, rain is coming down and your favorite pair of Michael Kors loafers are ruined. I found this Fashionista during some light rain, sporting a great outfit for a rainy day in the city. Even though parts of the outfit contradict each other — like wearing sunglasses on a rainy day or wearing tights under shorts — they work when you're expecting strange weather. Plus, they look really awesome on this Fashionista!

Name: Sara David

Major: Journalism and PR

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What most inspires your fashion sense?

Sara David: My budget! Since I'm a poor college student,  I never have cash so I love thrifting. When I do have money I go all out and buy ridiculous things like python skin pants and gold shorts. I really don't have a particular style. I guess if I had to describe my look in one word, it would be paleolithic. I wear a lot of animal prints and animal-related jewelry like feather earrings and tooth necklaces.

CF: Where are your favorite places to find college-friendly fashion?

SD: Goodwill, Topshop and American Apparel

CF: What music have you been listening to lately?

SD: So much new and exciting stuff, but definitely lots of beachy music for summer: Real Estate, Beach House, Best Coast, Tennis, Vampire Weekend and Local Natives.

CF: What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe and why?

SD: Probably my really cheesy shark T-shirt I got for five dollars. It's just a blue men's T-shirt with different kinds of sharks on the front, but I always get a lot of compliments on it and guys always try to pick me up when I wear it — “So… you like sharks?”

How To: This Fashionista's outfit is super simple to achieve. Slip on a pair of sheer tights and some cute shorts. Find an oversized graphic sweatshirt to keep you warm when it gets windy. This Fashionista not only has awesome ombré hair, but she has long bangs that come accross her forehead. This pair of large round sunglasses are perfect for this kind of haircut.
