FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Sara Fairbanks

With fall weather comes the beloved concept of layering and the opportunity to try some bold patterns without overdoing it. This Fashionista chose to take a bold cheetah blouse and layer it under a cream sweater. The cheetah pops without taking away from the sophisticated look of the outfit, perfect to wear to class.

Name: Sara Fairbanks

Major: Journalism and Photography

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit.

Sara Fairbanks: During the fall and winter one of my favorite things to do is layer, which is why I chose a chunky sweater and a cheetah print shirt underneath. Jeans are also my staple clothing item, my favorite are Gap jeans. I am also a huge fan of riding boots, especially in the fall.

CF: What are your favorite stores to shop at?

SF: J.Crew, Gap, Calvin Klein and Forever 21.

CF: How would you describe your personal style?

SF: Preppy with an edge. I like to take classic items, such as riding boots and chunky sweaters and pair it up with statement pieces like this cheetah shirt. My style is pretty eclectic and can range from college prep to black, metallic and edgy.

CF: Who are your favorite designers?

SF: Alexander McQueen. He is a fashion god, and never held his creativity back. His crab claw shoes are something I would die for. RIP Alexander! Also, I love Tom Ford.

CF: What fall trend do you love?

SF: I love having a long chunky sweater or cardigan and then belting it.  You can still be warm enough when the weather gets colder but still have a figure and be fashion forward.

How To: Animal print is very in right now and being able to incorporate it into an outfit can sometimes be challenging. Start with an animal print blouse and either layer it under a sweater, cardigan or blazer. To add some extra flair look for a bold color like blue or red. Once you have the top tackled, choose a simple pair of dark rinsed skinny jeans and a pair of your favorite fall boots! Accessorize with a purse and an arm full of bracelets and you are ready for class.
