Spring has always been my favorite season to dress for. With the warm temperatures and sunny skies, spring is one of the most versatile seasons for fashion, allowing one to wear all lengths and colors of clothing. I caught this Fashionista wearing one of my favorite combinations: a long-sleeve shirt and shorts. The combination is reminiscent of the high-low hemlines of many dresses and skirts this season for it plays with lengths and perception. Also, it encompasses the ever prominent brights trend which was all over the runway and in every store. The look this Fashionista sports is great for days when it isn't warm enough for a tank dress or if you don't want to be too revealing, the long sleeve shirt allows for some modesty while making you look fresh, fashionable and fun!
Name: Sara Glynn
Major: Accounting
Year: Sophomore
CollegeFashionista: Where are your favorite places to shop?
Sara Glynn: My favorite places to shop are Anthropologie and Lucky. Anthropologie has extremely unique and artsy pieces, whereas Lucky has more of my mainstream favorites.
CF: What trend are you excited to embrace this spring?
SG: I am really looking forward to splurging on some fun colored jean shorts. I've seen so many pairs around that I didn't recognize last summer season.
CF: Who is your style icon?
SG: I don't think I could pinpoint one person whose style I idolize. I'm inspired by many of the celebrities and fashion icons I see in magazines and how fearless some of them get with their outfit choices.
CF: How would you define the style on your campus?
SG: Style is huge in our campus. It is very rare that girls will show up to class in anything less than their best. Styles range from extremely hipster to preppy chic. Everyone has their own unique twist to the look they go for and I often pick up several ideas from others just walking to class
CF: Do your classmates inspire your style?
SG: Definitely. I love seeing new ways to wear certain styled tops or new pairings of colors that spark a new idea. I'm also not a big accessory/jewelry wearer, so when I need to put some on, I look to my peers to see how to wear certain pieces.
How To: To get this Fashionista's look, start with a bright colored top! They can be found virtually anywhere this season, so look for one that is unique to your personality and offers you a great fit. This Fashionista got her top at Lucky and paired it with a matching pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarers, creating a fun and cheery vibe. To offer some balance to the look, pair the top with a pair of short-shorts. Slip into some sandals and you have a perfect look for spring!
