Blousy button-ups are a menswear classic that have proven to be a valuable piece in any Fashionista’s wardrobe. Dressed down with a pair of jeans or dressed up with pleated trousers, button-ups grace the pages of many fall look books such as J. Crew and Zara. This Fashionista chose to pair her cream button-up with skinny jeans and riding boots. Keeping her ensemble clean and crisp, she accessorized with just a deep forest green and black patterned scarf. “Scarves are definitely my favorite accessory! I have so many different colors, patterns and materials for spring, summer, winter and fall,” this Fashionista told me. Scarves have also earned their place as a staple item for any season. Putting these two classic pieces together was the ideal combination.

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about you outfit.
Stephanie Spencer: I got this blouse when I went to Dublin and I’m wearing dark skinny jeans with it. My boots are from Steve Madden. My uncle got me this scarf when he went to China. Even though it was pretty sunny today, it was still cool enough to wear long sleeves, but not cold enough for a jacket.
CF: What are you favorite stores to shop at and why?
SS: I love J. Crew and Nordstrom. I like the timeless basics that J. Crew has. I also like Nordstrom because of the variety of clothes, shoes and accessories.
CF: If you could raid anyone’s closet, who would it be?
SS: That’s a good question! I would probably say Kate Middleton or Sarah Jessica Parker. I really like how Kate dresses simple, but she has been seen as a fashion icon. I also like how Sarah Jessica Parker takes risks and almost always seems to pull it off.

Button-ups are so versatile it’s imperative that every Fashionsta has at least one in her closet. Riding boots can also be found at a variety of stores like Nordstrom. Boots have obviously been appearing more often on campus due to the change in temperature. To accessorize your look, add a patterned scarf with opposite colors of your blouse so it really pops.
