One of the greatest and most challenging style meshes has to be glam with a side of edge. Ms. Taylor Green here found the perfect balance between the two opposing trends. She took a different twist on your typical blazer and tight cotton dress by adding geometric jewels and black laced combats. But she didn’t stop there; she also rocked any edgy stick straight hair-do and a bold red lip.
Name: Taylor Green
Major: dance and advertising
Year: Junior
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today Ms. Green?
Taylor Green: My red blazer is from NASTY GAL, my dress is from H&M, the jewelry is from Aldo and Nordstrom and the boots are also from Aldo.
CF: Have any fashion icons you don’t mind sharing?
TG: Miley Cyrus. If I could have her closet, I’d be set for life. She also mixes glamorous and edgy, as well as boho all rolled into one. She’s not afraid to try new things which I love.
CF: Love, love, LOVE these boots. What else can you wear them with?
TG: Almost anything honestly. I clearly don’t match styles accordingly and these boots are super comfortable so I love throwing them on. They immediately add a different spin to my girl outfits.
CF: Can you describe your style for me?
TG: Decorated Rock tends to sum me up. You’ll find an abundance of studs, blazers, tights, combats, lace, knee-highs and the color black in my wardrobe. I love mixing casual and ridiculously dressing into one. Does that make sense?
What’s next on your list of must-haves for this upcoming season?
TG: Cognac riding boots!!!!
How To: Dress in contrast…
Yes my fellow Fashionista, you are speaking my language. Ms. Green is dressing in contrast, and there are a few ways to do so. In her case, adding an edgy shoe gave her otherwise glamorous and cutesy outfit a mix of the two. Another option is to add knee-highs to your look like this Fashionista from Hampton University. Another classic method is to add some black and leather to your preppy look such as Kim Mai did here. Us Fashionistas aren’t giving up our girly girl side yet, but that doesn’t mean we won’t detour a little…
