FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Christian Ferree

While commonly seen accompanying private school uniforms, Western area farmlands, or your grandfather’s sweater vest, plaid has managed to stray away from those stereotypes and into the fashion world. I spotted this Fashionisto rocking plaid with a classic pair of Sperry’s, which has shown to be fall’s favorite shoe for both men and women. Esquire magazine featured the best in men’s fashion from New York Fashion Week and plaid was definitely a focal point whether under a sweater, patterned trousers, or jackets. Plaid can give a vintage feel as shown in rag & bone’s fall fashion runway show. Plaid has definitely proven to be fall’s it pattern!

Name: Christian Ferree

Year: Senior

Major: Spanish Education

CollegeFashionista: Tell me about your outfit.

Christian Ferree: I’m wearing a plaid blue and white button-down with ripped jeans and Sperry’s.

CollegeFashionista: Who is your style icon and why?

Christian Ferree: My style icon is probably Johnny Depp. He always looks really cool even if he’s just in a tee shirt. He dresses pretty unique and I also like how he’s always wearing sunglasses or a fedora.

CollegeFashionista: What’s your favorite store to shop at?

Christian Ferree: My favorite store is Express. They have such a variety like tee shirts, jackets and jeans. It’s all pretty affordable for college students too.

How To: Looking for a great plaid button-down is especially simple this season with such a variety of colors and fabrics. Many stores like J. Crew have plaid on plaid on plaid for this fall! For cooler days, try a plaid flannel in warmer colors like cream and red. Every Fashionisto/a knows that great fitting jeans are a staple item no matter what the season. Go for a dark wash pair of denim to pair with your plaid shirt. To top off this ensemble, try Sperry’s boat-shoes in a brown or tan color for an easy, yet versatile shoe.
