At first glance, when you walk around campus you might see sidewalks full of stylish students. Sometimes you have to take a closer look to fully appreciate their outfits. It all comes down to the details. I spotted this Fashionisto on campus, bringing together classic pieces, with a crisp button-down shirt, a structured coat and slick black shoes. I love how he keeps it simple, but kicks it up a notch when it comes to accessories. From his two-finger ring to his AEON Attire Tapers (he happens to be a co-founder of AEON Attire), it’s the little things that I noticed the most.
Name: Patrick Lum
Major: Business
Year: Freshman
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Patrick Lum: I aim for a clean, modern and timeless style. I think that solid colours and simple lines make for the best outfits. I want to wear classic clothes that don't go out of style every season.
CF: Where do you get your fashion inspiration?
PL: I admire the class and simplicity of older icons like Frank Sinatra, but I also pay attention to emerging styles from Europe and Asia via Lookbook (so I got on the harem pants pretty early). I am also a bboy (breakdancer) from a group called Breakreation, so that factors into my style sometimes too!
CF: What are three of your wardrobe staples?
PL: I like my Club Monaco fitted dress shirts, my two-finger ring and my AEON Attire pant tapers with the “Hex” pattern. I like to wear things that people haven't seen before, and these staples allow me to do exactly that.
CF: Whose closet would you love to raid?
PL: I'd like to raid the devil's closet since I hear there's a lot of Prada in there.
CF: What are some of your fall must-haves this year?
PL: My must-haves for this season include a turtleneck sweater, dark cotton dress shirts, my fake Vans from Old Navy and my AEON Tapers.
How To: Start off with a basic button-down shirt and a pair of grey trousers. Then throw on a wool peacoat, a brown shoulder bag and a pair of sharp black shoes. Now for the accessories — try a cool ring like this Fashionisto or maybe some edgy bracelets. To finish it off, add some AEON Attire Tapers, a great and original way to personalize your pant legs.
