One of the greatest things about fashion is its ability to communicate. There is no need to say “Hey everyone, come and see how good I look” (unless you’re Ron Burgundy, I suppose). More importantly, you don’t even have to speak the same language or be a part of someone’s culture to appreciate their outfit. And on a hot summer’s night I was able to experience this firsthand.
After seeing him exit a restaurant with his friend, I approached this Fashionisto to ask if I could write about him, only to find out he had no idea what I was saying. Fortunately for both of us, his friend spoke some English and was able to translate. I found it made the appreciation of his outfit all the more substantial.
What drew my attention initially was the contrast of the white Nikes and brown pants. It was mutually beneficial in that it made the white look crisper and the brown look richer. I’m a firm believer that everyone should own a great pair of high-tops because not only are they comfortable, they can add flair to what would normally be considered a casual outfit. Grab a pair similar to these to keep your wardrobe updated for this season.
Another great thing about this outfit is its challenge to the “no brown with black” rule. This Fashionisto defies what is usually understood as a fashion faux-pas, resulting in a fun, stylish, summer outfit.
Hint: Pairing black and brown can be risky, so be sure to find two pieces that complement each other well. Follow this Fashionisto by matching a black graphic tee with a brown-colored jean. It takes the focus away from just the two colors and fixates you on the ensemble. Try out this tee from Topman with your brown pant.
