LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: British Invasion

When I first noticed this Fashionisto’s ensemble, I couldn’t help but surrender to the faint chime of the British nursery rhyme, “Sing A Song of Six Pence,” as it echoed in my head. The detail on his off-white button down was an accurate portrayal of the dainty dish “four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie” that was proudly served to the King. My high school Vocal Ensemble teacher would be proud, but I digress. This Fashionisto, who was rightfully hanging on to the summer vibe, perhaps intentionally or unintentionally took us just over the bridge with this ensemble.

This Fashionisto layered a pocketed charcoal tank with a patterned button-down, matched with camel-colored cuffed shorts. He accessorized with a black corduroy hat by Brixton Apparel, the name which pays tribute to a community in England that is thought to be the unofficial British capital for the British-Caribbean African community. In terms of his choice of jewelry, this Fashionisto chose to don a series of wooden bracelets, and the combination of his gold watch and the silver pendants in his necklace shamefully put to rest the unspoken fashion rule that you should never pair together gold and silver jewelry. While the look seemed more '90s inspired than not, this Fashionisto gave us the effect of a full-out British invasion by finishing off with a pair of Clarks.

Clarks carries a variety of styles and colors in its Desert Boot Originals collection. Likewise, Urban Outfitters carries a great line of collared button-downs for men in a range of patterns. With a solid pair of bottoms and cap, and statement jewelry, this ensemble is sure to stand out among the rest!
