California is widely known for its beautiful beaches, pleasant climate and a laid-back sentiment that is shared throughout the entire state. With the new wave of music from the Golden State, its infamous West Coast street style is slowly making its way to the hustle and bustle of the East Coast. Think Wiz Khalifa, the popular rapper who hails from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; he is the epitome of the laid-back attitude, and is known to don a style similar to that of our featured Fashionisto.
I met up with this Fashionisto at Kogan Plaza during a drizzling rain. Though in the past few days the rainy weather has gone to prove that the District of Columbia is no California, the look worked for just that reason. As we’re approaching the fall season – and heck, hurricane season – layered pieces are constituting the go-to looks for most Fashionistos. This Fashionisto kept it simple on top with a white T-shirt paired with a pair of khaki-colored cargo pants. He finished it off with a pair of off-black canvas tie-ups. To accessorize, he wore a corduroy cap and simple wooden bracelets as jewelry. Moreover, his lumberjack-plaid sweater served both as an accessory and a layering option for protection against the rainy DC weather.
If you’re looking to re-create this Fashionisto’s style, start with a solid T-shirt and plain bottoms. As for a sweater or long-sleeved knit, check out Hurley for their lumberjack plaid collection. Finish off the look with a cap, subtle jewelry and canvas sneakers!
