Loafers. Reminds me of my dad's ratty, worn out shoes he would wear every single day for work–with light wash jeans, nonetheless! I suppose there has always been a negative stigma associated with this type of shoe, until now.
What I love most about fall is the classic warm tones that emerge as the season arrives in full swing. This Fashionisto did a wonderful job incorporating the fall color scheme into his outfit. His v-neck sweater, like this one, over with a classic button-down shirt and relaxed dark wash jeans is a great casual outfit. What really made the outfit was the classic loafers he was wearing, like these. Incorporating a dressier shoe to a casual outfit can really make any Fashionisto or Fashionista stand out on their campus.
This fall, designers have been experimenting with different kinds of shoes on all types of outfits: sneakers with dress pants, tall boots with business casual wear, you name it. Although I love the idea of mixing these two style cultures, remaining loyal to the classics is always in style. Marc Jacobs did a great job featuring the classic style in his Fall 2011 collection whilst featuring a new men’s fashion style with tall boots. For those Fashionistos not ready to take that leap of faith of wearing tall leather boots for the fall season, I suggest a mix of the loafer and oxford shoe by Steve Madden for a look not too far off from everyday wear.
For the more daring Fashionista, I suggest taking a look at Tory Burch's fall 2011 fashion collection. She features an abundance of penny loafers for the fall. Instead of the staple item of skinny jeans, a wool skirt and thick tights or corderoy pants like these from Urban Outfitters paired with loafers would be a breath of fresh air on campus.
Fall weather is creeping up, even with the abnormally warm temperatures from last week, why not try something other than jeans and gym shoes?
