LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Rockin’ Hair

This Fashionisto is kicking this summer semester off right. Although the sun is blazing here in NY by noon, there is still a morning chill before the 8:30 and 9 a.m. classes begin. So, take a hint from this fine bloke, as he’s mastered what looks like an easy transition from a cool morning to a hot summer day. But, more importantly, Hennesy’s done so with an individuality that isn’t forced, but thrives in its simplicity. It’s rare that we talk about the boys in our All About Beauty column, but with this chic hairdo, how could I possibly resist?

Over the past couple of years we have all seen the men’s hair trend that has only become more and more popular – a modern-twist on a 1930’s ‘do, keeping the length on top and shaving the sides and back of your head. But, the more and more I see it, I become less and less impressed. Hennesy on the other hand is rocking a style that quite literally caught my eye from across campus. He’s kept it clean cut and well trimmed on the top, I especially love how the bangs are swept back away from the face, but aren’t stuck there with immense amounts of hair gel. Boys, I recommend using a light or mid-weight wax or pomade, like Bumble and Bumble’s SumoTech. It’s somehow a combination of a creme, paste, and cream that can help make your hair look effortlessly cool. You’ll also notice that Hennesy only shaved the right side of his head. When I asked him why he did this, he informed me that he “loves asymmetry.” And usually I would dismiss even the thought of having a rat-tail, but his braid helps to put the whole look together. Now, enough about the beauty, let’s dig into the outfit.

Take note boys – you can never go wrong with a henley, and in my opinion, if you’ve got a smaller frame go ahead and rock a size too big. The bagginess gives an outfit ease, where as tighter shirts can sometimes appear constricting. I love the heather grey color combination with the wooden rosary. And, since the hair style is on the funkier side, kudos to Hennesy for not creating an overwhelming look and keeping his outfit simple with a nice pair of skinny khakis and comfortable moccasins. The combination of colors, textures, and accessories give this outfit a natural feel. With that being said, he hasn’t dismissed the use of color. The neon green back-pack and white earrings add a nice pop to the whole look.
