LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Red, White and Blue

The fourth of July is long gone, but your love for America can be displayed all year round! I spotted this Fashionisto with some awesome red, white, and, blue accessories!

Get a head start with a decorative bandana, it’s functional to keep your hair out of your face, but it’s also a great way to spice up your outfit in a different way other than a hat.

You can’t go wrong with a denim vest. As the temperatures drop layer up with a simple vest. You can purchase one, or check out a thrift stores like Goodwill and cut off the sleeves. This Fashionisto added some cool buttons to make his vest less generic. It’s a great way other than a T-shirt slogan to express yourself. You can find buttons at Earthbound Trading Company and Hot Topic.

Handkerchiefs aren’t just for suits anymore! If you look closely our Fashionisto added a bandana in his pocket to add a little bit added color to his ensemble. Lastly, that great watch! This watch was purchased at Zumiez and is a great statement piece. It’s definitely a fun piece that draws attention to your wrist.

This causal look is great for class. At the core this is a simple striped polo and shorts, but with some accessories it’s transformed into a trendy urban ensemble! To really spice it up you could wear red Converse, Vans or go all out with these red, white and blue shoes. If you’re really feeling festive you could have a DIY project and get a flag from Michael’s or Walmart and add it to a pocket on the denim vest. Check out my Pinterest board for a how-to on to get this done!

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE BOYS: Red, White and Blue

It doesn’t have to be the fourth of July to wear America's colors. This Fashionisto decided that it's never a bad time to wear red, white and blue so he pulled together this eye-catching outfit. I think this combination definitely creates a more regal or “American” vibe to your outfit, so keep that in mind when you're making an outfit focused on red, white and blue.

With that said this outfit is definitely well-done. He chooses to keep it simple and decides to go with a striped red shirt paired with a red sweater vest. Sweater vests with stripes have become a lot less common so now's a perfect time to bring them back. The look aims for simplicity without being boring and it definitely achieves it. As we transition from winter into spring your reds should gradually go from deep and luscious burgundies to fun, bright reds. This look is created with the navy blue pants as an accent. Navy is an amazing but incredibly underused color that deserves to be noted for its subtlety; it doesn't take away from the red and white stripes. It's a nice alternative to the standard khaki colored pant as well. The navy gives the outfit a darker, more serious tone, while khaki is a little light-hearted and fun.

If you're interested in creating this outfit yourself consider this navy sweater vest from Ralph Lauren. It provides a strong contrast with red stripes and shows a little more creativity than the red. If you're interested in good navy blue pants I feel I must suggest these Preston tissue chinos also from Ralph Lauren. Another alternative to the this Fashionisto's striped shirt is the Ben Sherman Chambray shirt. According to Style File, chambray has recently become a Fashion staple. Stay stylish and remember there's nothing wrong with showing a little patriotism with red, white and blue.
