STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Flair For Flare

If you follow any major street style blogs, such as The Sartorialist, Tommy Ton or Hanneli, you will have noticed that while flared pants were not necessarily a trend on the runway or the streets of New York, Paris, Milan and other fashion capitals, these palazzo pants are everywhere else. It is no wonder that this trend was a hit! After all, the breezy wide-leg trousers are the equivalent to high fashion sweatpants.

This Fashionista successfully pulls off a whimsical polka-dot pair. Her simple accompanying pieces, like a white T-shirt, casual leather belt, beaded necklace and simple sandals, perfectly complemented the bright print. The extremely flared leg makes it difficult to distinguish these as pants but makes them a functional piece in your summer wardrobe.

If you’re ready to rock this print for yourself, I would recommend starting off with this gorgeous pair from Anthropologie. The print will draw enough attention to your trendy pants. To not distract from your bottoms, a simple white top will perfectly suffice. Crossover tops are trendy right now and would go perfectly. Finish up with a pair of comfortable sandals like these ones from Madewell¬†for a no-fuss, chic ensemble.

Unfortunately, this trend may not be for everyone. It is important to make sure that the super wide-leg nature of the pant does not dwarf you if you have short legs. If you can pull off the look, however, I recommend immediately investing in a pair of palazzo pants. They are comfortable and flowy, ideal for summer’s heat. While shorts and a T-shirt are an easy solution, switch it up with this relaxed trend.
