While most people are busy running away from the summer heat, in some places there is the odd cold summer day when a jacket and a few more layers are needed. Layering is one of those things that needs to be done in the right way for them to actually work. One of the best ways to work layers into an outfit is by mixing styles and items that you normally wouldn’t put together. That’s when everything comes together and creates an interesting outfit.
Mixing long and dressier items of clothing with more distressed and worn out pieces seems to be the perfect solution to layering. For this Fashionista, high and low come together perfectly in her outfit. She paired an H&M long black and white tunic that had a very feminine and elegant look to it with a pair of Massimo Dutti skinny trousers. She mixed it with a rugged pair of worn-out black leather boots and of course, a classic denim jacket.
As far as her accessories went, she kept it extremely interesting with gold and black round sunglasses that gave the look a dressier feel. On the other hand, her Bloomingdale’s canvas bag gave the outfit a relaxed and whimsical feel. The key to this look is to simply make opposites look great together. Mix fine and delicate pieces with rugged ones, long things with short things and classics with seasonal trends.
