STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Colorful Tights

What better way to brighten up a gloomy November day than with a pair of fun colored tights? This Fashionista isn’t succumbing to a boring black wardrobe just because the temperature is dropping. My favorite aspect of her ensemble is definitely the tights. The plum hue of the stockings adds an unexpected pop of color against her petite ivory peacoat. Her look is fun, without being too outlandish.

A pair of colored tights is the perfect way to continue wearing your favorite dresses throughout the fall and winter. This Fashionista opts for a frock dress with a swingy silhouette. The flowers of the dress contrast with her tights, giving the outfit a mismatched yet playful look. She finishes with a rose gold Peter Pan collar necklace and a pair of beige oxfords.

Peacoats are a timeless outerwear choice that you should consider adding to your wardrobe. The length of hers is perfect, hitting just above the hem of her dress. Look to places like Nordstrom for a great variety of winter coats. Pair it with a playful frock and a whimsical pair of colored tights to achieve this Fashionista’s look. Colored tights can be found everywhere from stores like Forever 21 and Urban Outfitters. Don’t be afraid to add some amusement to your normally bleak winter color palette this season!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Trustworthy Black

With New Years Eve right around the corner, finding that perfect outfit to ring in 2011 has consumed me as I'm sure you can relate. There are a couple dichotomies I keep encountering- how do I look chic but stay warm, sexy but not slutty, unique but not too out there?! Not to mention, what color should I ring in the New Year wearing?

Turning towards inspiration from the street, today's Fashionista looks extremely happy with her little black dress number. She steered away from anything too plain (unique) but also wasn't wearing feathers all over her head (too out there). She paired a black blazer on top of her little black dress (warm) so that she was ready to face all weather that day. She showed just the right amount of leg choosing a mini dress with black lace tights (sexy) and didn't wear anything too low on the top (slutty). She played it safe yet sophisticated with her black palette (color)!

I must say, today's Fashionista helped clear my mind of outfit frustrations. Looks like I will be bringing in the New Year in black! What will you be wearing?
