STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: A Summer Twist

This past weekend in New York City witnessed some pretty dreary weather. It was raining, the streets were flooded and it was plain unpleasant. Call me a romantic, but I actually enjoyed it. I love the transitional period between the end of the summer and the beginning of the fall. Fashionistas tend to come up with creative looks during this time especially in order to cope with the temperamental weather. To explore the beauty of the city in the rain, I went down to SoHo and explored the area with its cobblestone streets and building with lofted spaces.

On my journey, I encountered many New Yorkers who were seeking refuge from the downpour. This week’s Fashionista found a creative way to cover up with innovative accessories, including a turban, giving her a trendy cover from the rain. College Fashionista’s own Tina Chen, commented on the rise of the turban – an extra bit of flare for your outfit.

The featured Fashionista’s outfit capitalizes on neutral and dark tones, perfect for the transition into fall. Her woven bag and bracelets come in earth tones which are a good way to prep your look for fall. Her turban, on the other hand, dons a bright red pattern with shades of bright blue, white and purple. My most devoted readers know that I have always been a fan of accent colors, so enhance your look with something bright!
If this week’s Fashionista’s turban caught your eye, check out Free People and Anthropologie for some funky turbans. Add a twist to your look with the turban!
