STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: AHOY MATEY

As the cooler temperatures have finally reached Austin, Fashionistas here on campus are bringing many different looks to classes. This Fashionista decided to go for the dark, rebellious, pirate look. The black is a fall must-have that has taken a very edgy look.

What I loved about this Fashionista's look was that she absolutely did not care. The cotton leggings are very comfortable and breathable, making you feel like you almost wearing nothing. She threw a graphic t-shirt under a long black sweater, emphasizing the dark look. The belt is a perfect accessory that once again adds a subtle but very sophisticated look and accentuates the waistline.

Lastly were the boots, the best part of this fall look. The short ankle boot worn with the leggings gives this fashionista a long and lean sihouette. Topped off with some big dark square Jackie O. sunglasses and no one would ever want to mess with her.

Hint: Take this look from day to night by adding something shiny. Throw on this shiny dress from American Apparel instead of the t-shirt for a more sexy, risqué look. You could even try it with or without the leggings. Have fun and be FIERCE! Aaarrrggghhh!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Ahoy Matey!

Maybe it’s just me, but come every spring, I go through a nautical phase. I see cute little Lacoste dresses and think “If I were going on a yacht, I would wear this with some red espadrilles…”

So when I saw this Fashionista channeling her inner sailor, I noticed right away! She looks so effortlessly stylish when she pairs a thin, studded belt with a cowl-necked, cotton dress. Red, navy, and white don’t need to be patriotic. Stick to one color and accent with others to keep your outfit more chic than 4th of July-esque. With summer just over the horizon, and study abroad programs getting closer and closer, it is essential to pack stylish cotton dresses like this. They roll up easily and won’t get wrinkled!

Whether you’re traveling the world this summer, or interning, or going to classes, a nautical look can be a fun way to escape without actually being on that yacht. Maybe someday…

Style On,

Kate
