With so many current emerging trends and designers, it is hard to pinpoint what has been consistent from season to season. While being consistently reinvented in terms of fit, color, and texture, a piece in my closet that I can confidently classify as a legitimate staple that is here to stay would be my oxford shirts. In my eyes, nothing looks better than a crisp oxford shirt (on guys and girls) tucked into a pair of fitted shorts, skinny jeans, or a well tailored trouser pant. The oxford shirt as a single entity has an amazing knack and capability to make a person look extremely pulled together and sophisticated. Recently, it has evolved from basic shirts we associate our fathers to be in, wearing them under their suit jackets, to a more refined look for the more urban young crowd as well, whether it be with flannel or seersucker material, in a  Marc Jacobs collection or at a Vineyard Vines store. The shirts versatility and appeal to every style is incredible.

This urban Fashionista has given the shirt her own spin by adding a fitted pair of khaki shorts, an oversized bag, and basic Ked's shoes. This look is perfect for going to a summer barbecue, an afternoon function, or just walking around in the city. Wearing an oxford shirt in a solid color leaves so many creative options open for what to do with the rest of the outfit. I think selecting a loud bottom piece makes for an amazing and unique combination. I personally love BDG's Acid Wash Denim Legging and J.Crew's Fireworks Cinema Shorts.

Hint: Buy oversized men's oxford shirts and give them a more feminine flair by rolling up the sleeves and cinching them at the waist with a classic belt. I love the Reese Woven Leather Belt by Free People, but any belt will work.  Regardless of how you decide to wear it you will look effortlessly chic and fashion forward.
