I love one-shouldered dresses be they long, short, patterned, draped, bright, muted, and sheer. So, naturally, this Fashionista immediately caught my eye with her sexy one-shouldered dress. Only, as I looked closer, I realized that it wasn't one shouldered. In fact it was an asymmetry of the dark gray was combined with a lighter, heather gray on the opposite shoulder. This color-blocked asymetrical look absolutely rocks. The Fashionista finishes her look with a worn brown belt, dangly beaded earrings, and a fall favorite, military inspired booties (Stuart Weitzman has some amazing ones with fur and buckles.) Lace-up booties are such a great way to add style to an outfit. One of my favorite websites just ran a Trend Report on these hip fall shoes, there are tons of styles and colors to choose from.
You can copy this Fashionista's look very easily. Find you favorite one-shouldered dress, and layer it over a neutral colored tank (I recommend gray or white). Make sure the tee is not crew neck, but more of a scoop, otherwise your neckline will look funny. I recommend a top such as this one from American Aapparel, which is a fitted and slightly scooped T-shirt. This is a great way to transition your more summery dresses into fall, keeping the asymmetric look without freezing on those cold October mornings.
