STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Who knew a distressed pair of brown pants could dress up a guy’s outfit? This Fashionisto’s getup stood out to me this week because his crewneck sweater could easily be paired with gym shorts and running shoes. His choice to dress up his ensemble makes him look current and sophisticated, whether he is going to class or grabbing a bite to eat. The contrast between this Fashionisto’s bright red sweater and matte black combat boots are tied together perfectly with the pant, displaying the virtue of versatility.

His choice to wear camel-coloured denim is excellent because this colour is crucial to have in your closet this season. Since it’s a neutral colour, it will make any bright tops you own even brighter, forcing you stand out more than your fellow classmates. Karmaloop is currently featuring a pair of brown straight-leg denim pants just like this Fashionisto’s. Also, consider matching these with an emerald green top like this one from ASOS. This season is all about eye catching gem colours and these pants will help bring out the boldness.

Fashion is found everywhere and men don't get enough credit for being creative with their outfits. It's simple for any Laurier boy to look great this fall by mixing neutral pieces with vibrant ones.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Summer time is your time to stand out from the crowd. Multiple layers of clothes are no longer necessary to cover you up from the cold, so now it's time to show off that summer glow you have been working on. The best advice I can give you for the next few months is to try adding a bold color to your everyday outfit. Whether it be your top, bottoms or a statement necklace, pick a color to stand out from the rest. Color blocking is also a trend that I am loving and I especially love it during this time of the year. This phone case even has two parts and two colors, which can be a simple way to add color blocking to your summer look.

So this means that it is time to shed the black. Yes, I know that is what we are all comfortable in, but life is too short to blend it. To rock this trend, I started off with a purple pair of shorts, similar to this Fashionista's bright pink shorts. My collection grew from those purple shorts to mint green jeans and bright chunky turquoise jewelry.

I love how this Fashionista paired her shorts with a graphic T-shirt. You can create a similar look by pairing these pants with this shirt. Pairing the bold red pants with a striped top creates a perfect ensemble. You can make this look simpler by pairing the bold red pants with a plain white top if you are not feeling as risky.

I recently fell in love with Kendra Scott Jewelry as her line gives the perfect punch of color to any outfit. These earrings are my favorite and they come in a variety of different bold colors. I wish I could afford to buy every color, for they would be of so much use in my everyday outfits.

Remember to carefully pick which bold colors you would like to put together. It looks the best when the two colors contrast each other. In order for this look to last through the winter, purchase colors such as red and royal blue other than bright neon colors. While I do love the bright colors for summer, I am on a budget and I love it when I purchase something that will be useful all year long.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

This week I want to emphasis bold patterns; wearing an eye-catching print is an ideal way to make your outfit stand out. Take this Fashionista for example, her shorts caught my eye from almost a block away! As I got closer and noticed her complete outfit, her casual boho look couldn’t keep me away.

After asking her where she got her shorts, I was surprised when she informed me that they were from Forever 21. After some research I discovered that Forever 21 has tons of affordable patterned bottoms. If you’re looking for something similar to what she is wearing, I would suggest these. If you want to be a little more chic, try a maxi skirt with daring design.

The key to pulling off any intense pattern is to pair it with a solid color. In this case, the Fashionista topped her ensemble and added some texture with a white crocheted top. It is always interesting to mix different textures and colors, but in this case, go for something monochromatic like this Free People top. Put a cami on underneath or even a bandeau for a day to night transition.

Leaving your hair down in beachy waves looks great; however, the summer heat makes that difficult. So instead opt for pulling it back in a braid or messy bun and throwing on a beaded headband. As far as accessories go, complement the bohemian style with a small cross-body bag. Etsy is a great place to look for one of a kind pieces like this hand tooled purse. Add multiple bracelets or something similar to River Island’s bangles to create an arm party, and your look is complete.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Here on the East Coast, the arrival of spring can be marked by the transition from dark and bare branches to blooming buds. This week’s Fashionista looks radiant in some of spring’s most exciting colors. This stylish undergrad executes the use of bold colors perfectly. Her top from H&M has both bold colors and different patterns making for a really unique look. The hot pink and neon orange in her shirt are the perfect color pairing. Broken up with white and black size varied stripes, this top is gorgeous and bold without being overwhelming.

In addition to the ultimate spring top, this week’s Fashionista is rocking the cutest bright yellow flats. It’s great to opt for a different color accent as to not be too matchy-matchy. And finally, this Fashionista finishes off her look with a basic pair of dark denim jeans.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

There’s nothing I enjoy more than the promise of being able to cycle my bright bold colors to the forefront of my closet in the spring. I stand by my theory that the recurrence of warm weather entices you to pull out your livelier pieces in substitute for the weary, drab winter jackets and sweaters you’ve been sporting for the past few months. If you’re in the market for statement pieces to kick-start your spring season, vivid colors and strong prints are a must-have for your wardrobe.

This Fashionista made a bold move for an early Monday morning class with this bright magenta button down. Although the blouse features no ornate detailing, the bright hue is still not only eye-catching, but also exhilarating. What better way to launch into a busy week than being perfectly put together with a little dash of daring? However, pairing the right neutrals with your bold pieces is essential if you want to avoid resembling a rainbow. This Fashionista paired her magenta top with basic skinny jeans and included a touch of texture with her neutral woven loafers. Metallic earrings, a tortoiseshell watch and a creamy beige nail polish complete the look with just enough accessories to give off a polished flair without being over the top.

But you don’t have to stop with just a solid bold color. If you’re feeling gutsy, try a bright color in a daring print or pattern. Tory Burch is certainly a fan of the bold trend lately, featuring multiple bright colors and prints in tunics and dresses this spring. Craving an eye-popping handbag? Then kate spade’s totes are perfect for providing the perfect punch of color for a spring outfit. Her statement jewelry also comes in hues so thrilling you’ll never know what you did before, like in this electric blue necklace. So be bold and pack some color into your wardrobe this spring!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Graphic prints are the name of the game for today's Fashionista. The fun, geometric print on her skirt immediately draws the eye and adds interest to her outfit. On top of this, she places a sweater woven in a wide zigzag pattern that matches the rhythm of her skirt's triangular pattern. Even the braid in her hair echoes the geometric print on the fabric.

Though this Fashionista's outfit may stand out on the street, the runway certainly is no stranger to daring mixes of bold and playful patterns. The Spring 2011 RTW collections saw graphic prints out in full force. Suno, like today's Fashionista, demonstrates the importance of maintaining a cohesive color palette when mixing different patterns. Though there is a lot going on, color allows different prints to play together without overwhelming each other. Missoni plays with even brighter colors and irregular prints, but maintains a cohesive color palette and executes brilliantly. Despite the intricacy and diversity of patterns, everything is tied together through color.

Some Fashionistas in the north seem to have gotten a jump on these Spring looks by wearing chunky knits or wool scarves with bold and beautiful patterns. For those of us already enjoying lots of sunshine, a zippered dress or breezy top will do the trick. Whether your travels take you through the sun or through the snow, a foldover clutch will bring some refreshing boldness to your look and remind you to have fun with your style. Go ahead. Take a risk. Be bold.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Although I tend to gravitate towards subtle glamour, the opposite end of the spectrum can be extremely exciting.  A red lip, bold print, chunky necklace or platform shoes can transform a classic ensemble.  This Fashionista, in her tight mini, took the word "statement" to the next level by adding drama through her lips, bag and shoes.

Leopard print is back again this fall in everything from accessories to cardigans, and it can be a great statement piece to add to almost any palette.  Her clutch serves as the perfect evening accessory for a night out, and adds a touch of flirty sophistication to her graphic tank.  Her patent red pumps are a great final touch that pull color into the entire outfit.

Hint: To duplicate this look, take your favorite graphic top and pair it with a faux leather mini, bold shoe and funky clutch. Remember, leopard print is considered a neutral, which means you can match it with almost anything.  Shop this funky animal print shoulder bag from Top Shop, or this fun top by Jonathan Saunders (65% OFF!)

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Be Bold

Being bold isn’t exactly a trend, but instead a mentality and a lifestyle. This Fashionista is living by this mentality. Her outfit is very reminiscent to Lady Gaga’s extravagant and fearless style. She is fearlessly sporting fringed socks over ripped fishnet tights, this look is not an easy look to pull off. However, you can ease into this look, but incorporating aspects of this bold attire. Try fishnet tights or any kind of tights and wear them with socks and heels. This combination may not always be understood, but it’s a sign of branching out and trying new looks, without feeling insecure. This Fashionista is also wearing vibrant make up! I understand not everyone wants to make a bold statement, so try just
