Fashion, in today’s world, is all a reemergence of certain elements in fashion from the past. Whenever I see anything bodycon, I instantly think back to the ’80s. The bright and vibrant colors and super innovative shapes were all the rage. Now, bodycon is making a very prevalent comeback in the world of fashion. Commonly thought of as a trend that is more fit for the night, it can be a great look for the day as well.
I spotted this fierce Fashionista exiting class and couldn’t help but want to snag a photo! She sports a flattering bodycon skirt and top that exude, in the words of Kimora Lee Simmons, true “fabulosity.” The neutral colored skirt is perfect for fall and the red flats allow for that perfect little pop of color. The popularity of bodycon has grown with collections from high-end designers like Herve Leger and Narciso Rodriguez over the past few years. However, bodycon is available for reasonable prices at stores like Topshop and Free People. I am a huge fan of anything bodycon, especially when there is a fun twist, like this Fashionista’s shoulder cut-outs.
Like most fashionable trends, the key to pulling off bodycon is finding the right fit. Bodycon, if done right, can be flattering on most body types. A common misconception is that one needs to be stick-thin to wear a bodycon garment. This is simply not true! In fact, on more full-figured girls, bodycon clothing has been known to highlight the curves of the body and accentuate the waist. In other words, it’s flattering. What girl doesn’t want that?
