According to NY Magazine, "Patterns are magical and clashing is an outdated concept."
That must be what this Fashionista is thinking, as well. Her brightly patterned fur-trimmed velveteen coat from Urban Outfitters caught my eye against the cold and gloomy streets. The warm colors in the floral pattern stand out among the typical plethora of blacks, grays, and browns we see on winter coats, and the toggle buttons complete the unique design. The intricate detailing, complex pattern, and fur trim reminded me of a jacket I saw during Oscar de la Renta's fall 2010 RTW show. The Fashionista's jacket paired with her natural leather riding boots pull together a laid-back, vintage feel.
Leather riding boots have been a fashion staple for years. Whether you choose black, cognac, or deep brown, leather boots are perfect any time of the year between fall and early spring. My favorite part about this go-to shoe is that you can wear it with jeans and a tee or over a sheer tights and a floral dress.
If you're not feeling spontaneous enough to wear a coat like this, try to incorporate one of the trends into your winter look. Fur-trimmed gloves or a brightly patterned scarf could do the trick without going too crazy.
