Many men and women would agree that boots are a staple to have in the closet, especially when living in the north and dealing with the harsh, unforgiving winters. While there are plenty of ways to pull off the booted look year-round, prime time seems to be between September and April. So it is finally time to pack up the flip-flops and strappy sandals, and bring out the boots. Though they come in many shapes and sizes, my favorite go-to style this season is the ankle boot.

This Fashionista, caught walking back from the Metro-North, went for a more professional look, pairing her gray and tan suede ankle boots with dark wash jeans, a brick red pleated blouse, navy blazer and gold accessories. The best part of this Fashionista’s outfit is its versatility. The ankle boots really complete the outfit, making it appropriate for work, class or even a casual night out.

Ankle boots look fabulous with tucked in jeans like this Fashionista is wearing, but can also work with shorts and tights as a more comfortable alternative to heels or flats. Some of the styles that have caught my eye this season range from casual and colorful to formal and faded, like these styles out of Baker’s Shoes.

Boots give any outfit the warmth, comfort and style we all strive for in the fall and forthcoming winter months. So cover up those open toes and slide your feet into the chic coziness of your favorite pair of boots.
