There is something about wearing bright colors that takes me back to my childhood. I was always decked head-to-toe in eye-catching shades of pink, yellow and blue. As my friends and I have embarked into our 20s, we naturally dress to display the utmost amount of sophistication, but we just cannot let go of our carefree and exciting childhood ways.

I spotted this Fashionista just outside Townhouse Row in an ensemble that was representative of this transitional phase of life. It’s the perfect frolic-friendly combination: A belted sundress, metallic Jack Rogers and delicate accessories.

Not only does this Fashionista look adorable, but she displays how critical styling is to an outfit that centers around a bright color. Sometimes stiff fabrics can make light-hearted colors look too severe — it's the subtle flow of the hemline along with the warmth from the tan belt that defines the dress without making it seem uptight. Less is certainly more when it comes to accessorizing bold colors. This Fashionista opted for dull gold Jack Rogers and a rose gold Michael Kors watch. A watch may seem basic, but it is more of a statement piece here because of it's size and the color scheme of the ensemble. Jewelry was absolutely minimal will a small pair of vintage earrings and a pearl necklace

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so feel free to take as many notes from this Fashionista as possible! This beautiful sunflower yellow, layered dress is the perfect palette for accessorizing. To add a personal touch, opt for jewelry that's slightly vintage yet has a retro-glam flare, such as this black and gold plated pyramid necklace. My go-to for summer footwear is the Gigi Sandal by Sam Edelman; a thong, strapped sandal in gold that goes with nearly every outfit and is almost as amazing as a nude pump.
