There will always be those certain styles and pieces of clothing that take you right back to your childhood. Maybe it's an oversized bow that you wore in first grade or those cool tennis shoes that lit up when you walked. For me, overalls have always taken me right back, reminding me of family vacations, marshmallow roasts and camping trips with the Indian Princess tribe.
I’m going to be honest with you, the last time I wore a pair of overalls, I was probably seven. When I wanted to be adventurous, I threw those bad boys on. After one exciting family vacation, my favorite pair fell victim to some burning campfire embers. They were never quite the same again.
Ever since, I’ve always thought overalls to be a little outdated, but this week’s Fashionista shows us that overalls are anything but just for little kids. By adding a belt and a pair of chic espadrilles, she creates a look that has a lot of style and even more attitude. The minute I saw her, I knew that I needed to get me a pair of overalls and fast!
Overalls are an excellent summer alternative and totally easy to style and accessorize. To get this Fashionista’s chic look, try these chambray coveralls with a loose fitting blouse and some wedges or summer heels. Try a colorful or printed bandeau underneath these overall shorts and add a fedora or a pair of oversized sunglasses. For some dark-wash alternatives, I recommend these denim overalls or these longer cuffed overalls. Cuff your overalls, add some jewelry, bright lipstick or a great oversized bag and you will be sure to look stylish for summer!
