There’s no question that the military has been a huge influence on trends this season. In fact, one of my favorite posts that have been featured on CollegeFashionista is the Marvellous in Military post from University of Kent (England), which is a great example of military-inspired coats.
In staying true to the military theme, this week’s featured Fashionista is sporting a pair of edgy combat boots. They lace all the way up the front using what looks like a nylon shoelace. She matches the boots with a pair of black tights underneath a geometric-patterned dress. To polish off the ensemble; her cardigan, tan bag and super chic lenses make the outfit absolutely awesome. Even though these boots are heavy and rugged and have just enough of a sense of androgyny. Most importantly, they match seamlessly with her outfit and take a simple, sweet dress and transform it into a fierce look.
My favorite combat-style boots that I have seen around on the web are at Steve Madden. The Troopa boots in black are divine! They feature an inside zipper and thick laces all the way up the front. Another great part about this Fashionista’s outfit is her glasses; they add a pop of personality. For those of you who wear glasses, try the New Wayfarer frames from Ray-Ban. They come in a purple-y zebra color with white on the temple line.
Hint: Even if you aren’t visually impaired you can still rock a pair of optical frames! Many stores carry readers that are non-prescription. Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and American Apparel tend to have a wide selection all times of the year!
