STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dressing with the Weather

On this particularly grey Morgantown afternoon, this Fashionista rocks a color pallet matching the mood of the weather. Her self-proclaimed punk influenced outfit is both comfortable, cute, and the prefect solution to a day with weather so confusing that you just don’t know what to wear.

I love her cotton cardigan from Forever 21 (complete with crocheted back) because it is the perfect weight in those buildings that don’t seem to realize that summertime temperatures have gone out the window.
Her grey flowy sleeveless top is a comfy essential for any college student. Basics like this shirt can be worn with just about anything from jeans to leggings and are the perfect option when you wake up late and don’t feel like putting too much effort into your outfit for class.

The element of this Fashionistas outfit that really stuck out to me was her pants. At first glance, I thought that they were simply a dependable pair of dark jeans, when actually they’re linen! Linen pants have made a significant appearance on the runway at Derek Lam, Marc Jacobs, Jason Wu, JC Obando, Chris Benz and other designers at several 2010 fashion shows. This fantastic fabric is seen mainly in spring and summer but has also been introduced into fall collections. On days when the weather is more than confusing, linen pants are a perfect not-too-heavy material to wear all day. Duplicate this look with new linen pants from Nordstrom.

Her black leather bag, oversized necklace, and rhinestone ring all come from the ever dependable Forever 21.

Hint: Don’t even think about trying to duplicate any punk look without a pair of Converse tennis shoes. They’re vital to any true Fashionista’s wardrobe!
