STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fall Necessities

Friday marked the first day of fall: September is quickly winding down, a chilly breeze is picking up and it’s time for a new wardrobe! Summer was great while it lasted, but it’s time to trade in those jean cutoffs and sandals for leather jackets and booties.

I stumbled upon this beautiful fall Fashionista on campus the other day. While transitioning her summer wardrobe into fall (see: cropped top layered under jacket), this Fashionista has all the bases covered when it comes to fall necessities.

My absolute number one must-have this season is a pair of nude suede booties. This Fashionista paired her grey suede wedge booties with an asymmetrical skirt to give the skirt new lengths. If you’re unsure about wedges, opt for a chunky heel like these Lucky Brand Tablita Western-Inspired Booties. And for those who are more comfortable with a smaller heel, check out these Gianni Bini Bobbi Suede Booties in chestnut brown. Whether grey or brown, a suede bootie complements any outfit, from a white T-shirt and jeans to a printed maxi dress. Dress them up or dress them down — they’ll never leave your feet this season!

Another fall necessity is of course, the black leather jacket. There’s nothing more exciting that breaking out the old leather jacket on that first fall afternoon. I recommend investing in a good leather jacket this season, for a look that will never go out of style and will last you years to come. Keep it classic with a straight zip jacket like this June Leather Biker Jacket or go retro with this Topshop Quilted Collarless Biker Jacket, similar to this Fashionista’s collarless leather jacket.

And finally, find yourself a versatile purse. Leave the bright hues and crazy prints behind when it comes to bags this season. I’m obsessed with this Fashionista’s Marc Jacobs leather bag, but check out this Kimichi Blue Convertible Clutch for an even more versatile bag. Cross-body bag by day, clutch by night!
