STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Faux Fur

Having class everyday, all day can get a bit boring, but your wardrobe does not need to fall into a routine. When I spotted this Fashionista on the way to class, she immediately caught my eye with her dynamic outfit. I admired that she dressed up her flannel with a fur vest. I usually wear comfy clothing to class (since I’m sitting down for a long time and I don’t want to be in really tight or fitted clothing). I favor leggings, sweaters and boots. It was a nice surprise to see someone taking it to the next level with some fab components.

This Fashionista had the perfect mix of casual and cool — plus she accessorized! Although she is wearing a Free People black and white flannel which is quite casual, she dresses it up with a Steve Madden crop faux fur vest. She added black riding boots which made the outfit look more chic and dressed up as opposed to Converse or UGGs (which I see a lot of around campus).

She took it to the next level by accessorizing with gold jewelry. Her watch is from Michael Kors, a campus favorite. If you don’t have the funds to scoop one, Nordstrom has faux gold watches in their B.P. department.

This Fashionista proves that you can be comfy and still look cute on campus. Even though class can be a bore, your outfit doesn’t have to be — remember to accessorize.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Faux Fur

Warm, snuggly and affordable are all words that come to mind when I see faux fur. This fall, the faux fur trend hit runways, department stores and campuses. I will be the first to admit that I love the look of faux fur. It’s a fabulous alternative to real fur and it’s affordable, even one of my lovely style icon Khloe Kardashian agrees.

I get so excited when I see Fashionistas wearing it around campus because I am a true believer that faux fur is not simply a style for the evening but also an everyday wear.

You may recognize the faux fur SpiritHoods on celebrities like Ke$ha or AnnaLynne McCord. These faux fur hats are a great winter buy to keep you warm and looking edgy. With an array of designs available you have lots to choose from.

Or maybe you want a subtler look like this Fashionista who has faux fur on her leather jacket. You can find amazing vests like this Collection B Faux Arctic Fur Vest at Nordstrom. This popular vest can be worn with jeans, a skirt or a maxi dress at any event.

Trending in faux fur are also an array of coats like this Pins and Needles Faux Fur Peacoat, or this Pins and Needles Faux Fur Collar Cardigan. Both looks make staying warm and fashionable in the winter easy and practical.

This week see what faux fur pieces are in your local stores and invest in a look that will have heads turning!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Faux Fur

As humans, it is in our nature to choose comfort over looks. Understandably, we rather wear a chunky oversized sweater than a dress, especially after a late night of studying. Fortunately, fashion labels such as Bb Dakota and Rachel Zoe have provided Fashionistas with the perfect wardrobe piece that won’t bulk you up. Faux fur has the potential to make any Fashionista look like a glam god while still offering essential elements of warmth and comfort, too.

With the surplus in animalistic trends this fall, you can count on walking out your door and spotting a Fashionista sporting a faux fur vest or jacket this season. The greatest part of this trend is its versatility, it can be dressed down with riding boots for an effortless bohemian vibe or rocked with a show stopping mini skirt to look fresh off the fall 2011 runways.

This Fashionista’s funky fur serves as the perfect layering piece over a cable knit sweater. Since she took a casual angle while exhibiting one of fall’s most popular trends, this Fashionista is able to run errands and attend class without feeling too over dressed for the day. Take note from this stylish and functional Fashionista, combine your faux fur with an overcoat and a pair of riding boots, like these ones from J.Crew.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Faux Fur

Faux fur is a girl’s best friend, because it’s affordable, beautiful and chic! Faux fur may not always be affordable, but if you search in the right places, you can snag a great faux fur coat at Goodwill or Buffalo Exchange for a great deal. This Fashionista found this great coat at Goodwill for $10 on SALE, originally $17! What great luck? Hunt for good quality and/or vintage faur fux pieces at flea markets, estates sales or thrift stores. Or if you like new pieces, try Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, H&M or Zara.

If an entire coat of faux fur is too overwhelming, try a faux fur piece or scarf instead. Pair a faux fur coat with a solid color dress or floral dress for the more girly and flirty look. Or pair it with tapered pants for a more menswear inspired look. High-waisted tapered pants are all the rage.

Go out and find the perfect faux fur piece for your closet! Every one needs at least one faux fur piece. Hit the nearest thrift stores and estate sales now! In fact, go and ask your mom or grandmother and raid their closets, maybe you’ll find the perfect faux fur piece there! Good luck!

Style On,

Kacesi
