STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Game Day Chic

If there is anything that the University of Michigan has a lot of that other schools may be lacking in, it is school spirit! When I was a freshman last year, I walked around the campus in awe of how many students dressed in Michigan attire on a regular basis. So many people, in fact, that the clothing stores on campus actually carry trendy lines of spirit attire. Some of my favorite pieces can be found at Bivouac, an Ann Arbor hot spot for designer jeans, trendy handbags, and clothing brand’s such as The Northface and Free People. But, stores such as the M Den and other Michigan spirit stores carry items that are affordable and yet still form fitting and feminine.

The day that students sport the majority of their spirit is on the best day of the week – football Saturday! At a school with such a large emphasis on the football team and an enduring fan base of both alumni, students and others, it is impossible to not feel some sort of school spirit on these Saturdays. Students throw huge pregames before the game and deck out in all their favorite Michigan apparel.

Last Saturday at the University of Massachusetts game, I couldn’t help but admire this Fashionista’s game day flare. She wore an oversized Michigan tank from the M Den paired with blue American Apparel spandex and high Wolverine tube socks, also from the M Den. She showed how one could go about making game day apparel trendy opposed to sloppy. The spandex this Fashionista wore were the summer edition, but American Apparel carries a similar fall version. These can actually be worn for not as casual days. The pieces in themselves are not anything special, but it is all about the right combination. As homecoming approaches and the emphasis on school spirit increases, it is time to pick up some essential Michigan spirit items. I know I will be picking up the Retro Sport Tank M GO BLUE Print from Bivouac and some personalized maize and blue Nike Dunks!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Game Day Chic

One of my favorite things about fall is the beginning of football season. From tailgating to kickoff, WVU spirit is a palpable force to be reckoned with. Mountaineer football is no joke in Morgantown and with all the new football fashions; game day apparel has gone chic.

I spotted this Fashionista on the way to her very first football game, wearing one of my favorite new football trends. Clothes for game day aren’t just limited to random t-shirts anymore. Victoria’s Secret Pink has been developing their collegiate collection into a lot of fun, flirty and wearable pieces. They have come up with just about everything from tank tops to sweat pants but my personal favorite is the mesh WVU jersey. With worn lettering and rhinestone details, the jersey is a classy, fashion forward and must-have item for this football season.

I also love her accessories . The gorgeous white bag from Steve Madden has edgy gold studs and is the perfect size to handle your keys, wallet, and any backup football accessories you might need (like a Game face or school-colored beads). Comfortable shoes like these sandals are also important for football season when you’re likely going to be standing up for hours on end.

This year, go game day chic and check out the latest VS Pink collection.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Game Day Chic!

As game days approach, almost every girl at the U of A campus makes a trip to the bookstore to get an oversized t-shirt, and pulls out their sharpest set of scissors. We all know the drill. At Arizona most girls show up to games with a set of blue and red football necklaces, a Wildcat tattoo on their cheek, and of course an Arizona shirt, that has been cut in so many places that it hardly resembles the XXL shirt they started with. One of the best parts about game day is seeing all the different shirts, and how creative everyone got with their original design.

Now, although the cut up t-shirt look is a tradition here at Arizona, it is sometime nice to take a break and dress a little trendier. This Fashionista rocked a red high-waist skirt from American Apparel, with a red and white striped tank tucked in. She accessorized with a long gold necklace, and of course a Wildcat tattoo on her face. She created a look that was game day appropriate and stylish.
