STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Get Catty

When it comes to personal style, there's really nothing better than a punch of personality. We certainly saw our fair share of bold colors, daring silhouettes and intriguing textures on the spring/summer 2012 runways this season. But there will always be, of course, one of fashion's most cherished iterations: the leopard print. While florals often dominate the printed clothing category for everyday wear, animal prints can be a compelling alternative. Case in point: this Fashionista's twist on a traditional leopard print with a bright pop of color.

The fashion set's beloved leopard print might go ages back, but it's always fresh seeing the pattern be mixed into pieces beyond the elegant leopard jacket. Options include anything from shorts to swimwear to cropped tops. One of my personal treasured staples will always be leopard ballet flats. You can also dress in colored leopard. When doing so, the print is best tamed by solid black, like this Fashionista did with black leggings and sparkling TOMS Shoes.

Fast-fashion companies like H&M, Nasty Gal and Urban Outfitters are notable for housing alternative leopard pieces. Then, you can find the animal print on some of the most coveted pieces right now, including sheer skirts and the high-low dress. There are also endless possibilities for leopard in accessories like scarves and backpacks. All purr-fect ways to becoming a cool, edgy cat-lady.
