STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Getting Shady

Spring break has finally come, and with it the sound of Fashionistas rejoicing as they pull out their warm weather clothes. This week will hopefully mark the end of puffy coats and fur hats (at least until next winter), and will start the beginning of breezy layers and light colors. One essential that every Fashionista needs for their much-appreciated vacation is a great pair of trendy sunglasses. Whether you chose to go home, stay in Boston, or vacation somewhere beachside, some stylin’ shades are essential.

This week’s Fashionista chose to rock a pair of vintage Ray-Bans to top off her chic outfit. My favorite characteristic of this pair is the redish color—the perfect shade to add style and personality to any outfit. This color, combined with the classically vintage shape, makes the shades on-trend for the spring. The tortoise shell pattern adds another classic quality to the chic shades.

To update your collection of sunglasses, follow our Fashionista and opt for classic styles with a modern twist. Try a pair of amber tortoise shell shades with an old school shape, or Super’s wayfarer style that is made instantly hip with its black and white print. Semi-transparent shades have been a big hit amongst Fashionistas. To get the look, try Asos’ milky aviators. Another modern twist on a classic pair of aviators is the addition of mirrored lenses, a la Carrie Bradshaw. Tom Ford’s option is both chic and edgy. Whatever alternative you choose, make sure it is the right shape for your face; nothing is more awkward than a trendy pair of shades that just don’t fit. Once you find that perfect pair you will never want to take them off. And, if you’re lucky enough to be in the sun this week, you won’t have to.
