Call me crazy, but I have never really been into matchy-matchy fashion. Not that it should never be done, I just see myself as more of the add-something-bold-to-throw-my-look-off type. Fashion IS supposed to be fun, so no matter what, I always try to incorporate something different. Like the time I wore bright red lips and pumps to a funeral or when I added a bright blond skunk stripe, as my mother likes to call it, to an already wild Mohawk. I mean really, who does that?
Experimenting with colors and/or mixing and matching prints is definitely not for the faint of heart, especially when you consider how easily it can go wrong. This week`s Fashionista however, was able to capture both aspects while staying true to her free spirited style. I was immediately drawn to her electric blue crossbody purse from Danier. Not only does this vibrant purse bring the whole ensemble together, but it gives a relatively neutral outfit a bold and unexpected punch! An off-white fedora and vintage blue dress prove that when done correctly, mixing and matching floral can and does work — even if the prints aren`t from the same family. A faux suede belt to add shape and sandals from Stepss complete this boho-chic look.
As we bid farewell to my favorite season and welcome fall with open arms, it is important to remember that no matter how sad we may be to see the flashing brightness of summer fade away, making a bold statement will never be out of season.
