STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go Green

“Going Green” has been a growing environmental slogan the past few years. But going green doesn’t just apply to being more environmentally responsible—we have to go green in our wardrobes too! While the chillier weather often drives us to stick to blacks, grays and other wintery hues, it’s important to keep splashing brights into your daily style as wel,l with a dazzling Kelly green being the perfect color to start with. As Fashionistas it’s our obligation to break the rules and be bold with different fashion choices. Rock a colorful green around campus and make everyone you see green with envy of your totally chic outfit.

This Fashionista was easily spotted across campus in her modish ensemble and I just couldn’t resist snapping her photo. She boldly strayed away from the typical seasonal colors and worked a killer pair of Kelly green jeans. She paired her glamorous green with a silk, floral print button down, which perfectly complements her pants with its blue and lilac hues. She pulls the outfit together with a simple pair of metallic gold gladiators, offering the final touch to her already stylish ensemble.

Fashionistas, take a hint from this daring diva and rock green hues with confidence. The happy color is bound to add some pizzazz to your wardrobe as well as make a statement across campus. The first step is finding the perfect shade of green for you. Think back to your Crayola Crayon Box days—Granny Smith Apple, Forest Green, Sea Green, Jungle Green—you get the idea. There a plethora of stunning shades waiting to be thrown into your style. Green denim is always a great way to rock the color. You can pair jeans or sleek denim shorts with a black or white blazer. Add in a chunky gold necklace to spice up the look. Also, try donning a green, silk maxi skirt. You can pair it with a black knit sweater and a thick belt. A mint green, baby doll dress is always adorable. Even in colder temperatures just thrown on a pair of black tights and booties and you’re ready for whatever the weather. You can even add in a cropped leather jacket to add some spunk to the feminine look.

Don’t be afraid of patterns infused with green, either. Top of a look with a green floral blazer for some added flavor to any outfit. Floral-printed jackets are a great touch over a shift dress or even the simple jeans and white tee look. Throw your dose of green in to make it stand out. Don’t be afraid to mix up your wardrobes with this happy hue. Simply stay confident, and go green!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go Green

It's been unbelievably nice out these past few days in the city. In post-finals shock, I have accepted the climbing temperatures with limp open arms and a numb brain. After spending hours caged in the somber confines of many a musky library, I finally remembered that the world outside still existed, and set off for Central Park.

While walking through the park I spotted many things of the green variety, namely grass, foliage, popsicles, and some suspect (and obviously naturally colored) beverages, and of course, this stylish young woman. Wearing an asymmetrically cut blue dress that swayed behind her with each step she took, her springtime relaxation reverberated through the ripples of her garment. The green detailing served to further prove her immersion in nature.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, mostly because I have a very little brain power remaining, but sunglasses can truly create a look. This Fashionista’s translucent green Urban Outfitters shades block the sun in an unexpected way. Their square frames and unconventional color pop, even in the lush forestscape that is the heart of New York.

So if you too are suffering from Post Traumatic Finals Stress Disorder, and are therefore find yourself questioning, “why do I look like a hobo?” or “why am I eating cereal for every meal?” then take a few pieces of solid advice from this post. Remember that comfort, especially in such a comfortable climate, is of the utmost importance to looking and feeling great. Slip on a cotton dress like this park stroller and slip on a pair of eclectic shades (like these that The Man Repeller has selected). You’ll be ready to soak up the sun’s rays and forget the last semester’s troubles.
