2010 has showed us a variety of new lengths when it has come to clothing trends, whether it is super-short shorts, floor length maxi skirts, high-waist belts, or vertically stunning high heels. Moving into 2011, we’re bound to see much more varying styles of length. One of which is the oversized, knee-length coat.
This week’s featured Fashionista wears a knee-length, khaki trench coat. The gorgeous khaki color matches effortlessly with her feminine lilac dress and brown pumps. This Fashionista was quick to point out that the coat has a removable fleece lining that zips out and a detachable hood that buttons off. It’s an all-purpose coat and a great piece for anybody’s wardrobe. I absolutely love the fact that this coat gives much flexibility when matching with other items in your wardrobe. As shown here with a shorter dress, the coat provides the ability to let a dress peek out in the front while showing off bare leg in the back, adding a sense of excitement and zest. On the other hand though, when worn with pants, this coat is a great finishing item and obviously adds warmth on freezing cold days.
This Fashionista mentioned that her coat was a Goodwill find. However, for those of us who don’t have the best luck in thrift store buys, try the Cheap Monday Evelina Canvas Parka from Nasty Gal. This coat is in a gorgeous army green color and has a removable hood as seen on the featured Fashionista. Match it with this dress from Urban Outfitters for an ultra-femme punch and these clog-esque Lucky Brand pumps from ModCloth for an overall striking and edgy ensemble.
