STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Ice Cream Parlor Palette

As fall approaches, time is running out to show off that bronzed tan you’ve been working on all summer. There is no better way to accentuate a sun-kissed glow than by rocking pastel colors and a pair of crisp skinny jeans. This Fashionista is the perfect example of what to wear to those end-of-the-season summer soirees or last minute cocktail parties.

A major fashion trend this 2012 has been pastels. Personally, lavender, mint green and daisy yellow all grace my shelves. These light shades have often been coined the ‘Ice Cream Parlor’ palette. Just think sherbets, strawberries n’ cream, pistachio gelato or mint chip! How scrumptious?! Besides sounding delicious, they look amazing on everyone and I think enhance everyone’s natural tan. This Fashionista shows off her pool lounging progress with a Tibi colorblock lavender tank top.

Other fashion bloggers like my favorite, Blair Eadie from Atlantic-Pacific, show off the versatility of pastels with a traditional minty fresh dress versus a quirky creamsicle top & striped skirt. ModCloth offers so many pastel or as they phrase it ‘subdued hue’ clothing and accessories at affordable prices.

Other favorites of this Fashionista’s ensemble include her gold nameplate necklace. Monograms (Blair Eadie's instagram) have always been so classic, but this Carrie Bradshaw inspiration is a little more modern. I’m also loving her Tory Burch clutch. The gray color makes it an all year round piece and the fold over closure is so unique. I find myself more and more reaching for a clutch in the summertime rather than a huge clunky purse. An envelope clutch is on my list of accessory purses.

So this week’s style advice of the week is to dish up yourself a soft serving of pastel yumminess and show off that tanned glow! Try different shades and colors to see what looks best on you but more importantly, enjoy these last few weeks of summer.
