The first week of spring has finally set in and everybody seems to be disagreeing about the weather. Those who went on spring break complain it’s too cold while those of us who stayed in the Midwest are loving it. Regardless, we can all agree: the gust of wind that sets in every once in a while will give us goose bumps.
So, how do we keep warm on those chillier days of spring while completely avoiding anything that even resembles winter?
Light layers.
Who says you have to layer on a zip-up or pullover crewneck when it’s a bit chilly out? This Fashionisto had the right idea going—using a woven to substitute the typical hoodie. You may think that a plaid button-up would clash against your graphic tee, but the truth is it’ll only accentuate it, as we see here. Keep the right color palette in mind and you’ll be on the perfect track to looking fly and in season.
If you don’t want to pile on the plaid, look at other lightweight options perfect for the summertime: scarves, cardigans, even the classic and cool blazer. Chuck Taylors and other sneakers are also a great versatile way to keep up with the weather.
My favorite place for graphic tees has always been Express due to their perfect fit and intricate designs. For some great plaids, look at Forever 21 or True Religion. And if you want to get some gray-washed denim like our Fashionisto, check out 7 For All Mankind, known for their great fit and quality.
And remember what is becoming my favorite piece of advice this season: Patterns are magical and clashing is an outdated concept.
