Thanks to Coco Chanel the little black dress has become a ‘rule of fashion’ that every woman should have one in her closet. But on the other side of the color spectrum, there is the little white dress. Just like how a black dress is elegant in its simplicity, the perfect white dress is appropriate for any occasion. This week’s Fashionista puts the little black dress to shame. The crochet detail on the neck of the dress acts as an accessory and adds just the right touch to the outfit. That is why I am declaring the little white dress the statement piece of the summer!
What I love most about this outfit is how she puts two very different styles together and somehow makes it work. The denim cutoff vest gives the dress an unexpected edge and dresses it down. The combination is genius since most people dress casually to class during the summer session. So it comes as no surprise that many students around campus look like they just rolled out of bed and threw on some sweats. That’s why I applaud this Fashionista for setting the bar for the rest.
While skimming the headlines of fashion sites I came across Lucky Magazine’s “50 White Dresses Under $50” that offered fashionable and affordable options perfect for this week’s style advice. Among some of the choices was a 1950’s inspired summer dress from ASOS with a sweetheart neckline cut and double shoulder traps that cross in the back. Similar to this but sexier is Guess’s Gia Sleeveless Pieced Lace Dress that goes to show that modesty is not in their dictionary when it comes to style. But if you’re looking for a bit of coverage, Francesca’s delivers the ultimate date dress called Laced in Love Dress. With all these options laid out on the table, there’s no reason not to add one to your closet. Happy shopping!
