STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mastering Business Chic

A few weeks ago I started an internship. I thought my biggest struggle would be getting my boss’s Starbucks order right, but every morning my hardest battle is with my closet as I try to figure out what the heck to wear. Bringing personal style into the workplace in a professional and appropriate way is not always the easiest thing to do, but it can be done!

This week’s Fashionista masters the business chic look with her blazer, metallic flats and statement necklace. With just two accessories and her blazer, she instantly takes her look up a notch and makes it appropriate for the workplace, and the best part, her personal styles still shines through! No one wants to go to work hating what they are wearing, but this Fashionista shows us that internship wear can be both chic and professional.

No matter the season, there is always room for a blazer. The blazer’s versatility makes it the perfect piece to dress any outfit up or down, you get to choose! These are a few of my favorites for summer:
1. The bookshelf blazer from Madewell.
2. A sleeveless blazer from ASOS.
3. A cropped boyfriend blazer also from ASOS.
4. A cutout, collar-less cropped blazer from Topshop.
5. A cropped blazer from Cooperative at Urban Outfitters.

If your internship is on the more casual side like mine, pair your blazer with a pair of jeans and cute flats and you will be ready to go. Adding a blazer will give you a more business feel but is still a way to add some personalityto your look. Add some bangles, long necklaces or a cute pair of studs for a flirty twist. Don’t forget a bag! When the workday is over, throw your blazer over a dress or pair of shorts and add some wedges, and instantly your look goes from business chic to summer chic. The next morning, when you are struggling to figure out what to wear again, just add a blazer. You won’t be sorry you did.
