Spring has arrived! Although it isn’t all leaping lambs and daffodils, clear skies and considerably warmer temperatures ask to refuse warm layers and try out new colours, fabrics and ensembles.
When I spotted today’s fashion duet, I immediately thought of the effortlessly balanced and “matchy” look that I saw on the runways of the spring/summer collection of Alexander McQueen. The Fashionista chose to mix and match neutral hues of beige top, navy jeans, khaki coat and cognac loafers. This colourful ensemble looks very delicate as well as complete, since the colour replaces the need of accessories. The Fashionisto epitomizes sleek monochromatic style. By cleverly combining the colours of brown and blue, this Fashionisto achieves smart and crisp look.
Moreover, I admire the way in which today’s Fashionista and Fashionisto use their coats and jackets to be a focal part of their outfits. The classic brown suede jacket with leather shoulder patches on the Fashionisto freshens up the whole look and gives that sophisticated vintage edge to the outfit. Also, the oversized boyfriend coat seen on the Fashionista, which reminds me of a lot of the '80s, is a statement item making this Fashionista’s outfit stand out from the crowd. High street stores such as Topshop and River Island offer a wide variety of oversized boyfriend coats, which combined with skinny jeans or leggings make a great outfit.
