STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Maxi-mize Your Style

With the hot summer sun beating down, it’s not easy to cover those legs with pants, jeans and trousers. Thankfully, the maxi dress allows Fashionistas everywhere to stay cool and comfortable, even out in the sizzling sun. The maxi dress has become a must-have staple this season, as this Fashionista shows us that it can be the perfect summer mix-and-match basic.

This Fashionista has uniquely styled her maxi dress under a cool, flowy shirt, giving the illusion of a full-length skirt. Who needs to buy skirts when we can just restyle our beloved maxis? Taking one item of clothing and maximizing it into many more creations is a great way to save time and money! Just throw a cool summer knit or cropped top over your maxi and you have created an easy, quick and stylish masterpiece! I suggest finding a neutral maxi, like this Calvin Klein one from Zappos, that can be mixed and match with plenty of cropped tops and sweaters. With a neutral maxi dress, you can add color through your jewelry, shirts, shoes, makeup and more and then change it up every time!

To spice it up a bit, you could even step out of the box and buy a printed maxi like this one from Anthropologie. Prints are hot this summer, so simply tossing on a white or neutral sweater will allow you to fashion this flawless, trendy combo. This crochet sweater by ASOS would look great over a fun summer maxi dress. Even a simple white T-shirt like this one from Zara would be Fashionista-worthy. You can also buy maxis already pre-made in this look, like this one from Shopbop.

Make this look your own and your closet will be officially maxi-mized. Enjoy the summer months and stay cool in style!

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: MAXI-mize your style

Maximize every item in your closet Fashionista’s! While the sun is still shining on these December days, add some style and shine on your campus. It can be easily accomplished by being casually cute and vintage like this Fashionista. I was drawn to this Fashionista’s unique clothing combinations. Her outfit utilizes an array of colors, patterns, and textures. Layering can be difficult sometimes but she really shows how to mix with different types of clothing pieces from her closet.

Drop you're hemline Fashionista's and wear a maxi-skirt. I am truly obsessed with this maxi-skirt  from Topshop she so elegantly poses in. This trend can be used in any season and is flattering on any body type. The maxi-skirt is totally on-tend and prefect for the cooler temps. It was refreshing to see a girl not afraid to play with softer color palates as the cold and frigid winds sweep the campus pathways. But it is true, any maxi dress is a fantastic way to transition floor-sweeping lengths into winter months.

Staying warm in a maxi-skirt is simple. It can easily move through all the seasons with layering. This Fashionista looked comfortable in an ever-classic white tee from Karen Millen and jean jacket. Providing a simple foundation for this casual look and adding a thick lavender-purple sweater from French Connection was indispensable.

Add some personalized accents to an outfit by making your own jewelary like this Fashionista. She was inspirational and innovative by combining a bracelet and a necklace. This was one funky Fashionista statement I absolutely adored. For accessories, this Fashionista splurged with timeless pieces. As shown, she styles a Rolex watch and a Louis Vuitton purse as her school bag. Complete the ensemble with beige ankle booties with a touch of fur from Miu Miu. Her bootie heels were a subtle way to find a furry accent to celebrate December and get into holiday spirit.

As the curtain closes on this fall semester, end the year with a sweeping statement like this Fashionista. This stylish outfit is playful, yet practical for class or great for any casual occasion. Maximize your class day Fashionista’s with a ton of style, and have students turn heads all the while. As you go through all the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season, just remember to keep calm and style on!
