It’s often pretty hard to find anything too unique to photograph when it’s snowing outside and everyone is bundled up in a black, down coat. Little style exists on campus when students are struggling to keep warm. I saw this Fashionisto from across campus, thinking his look was very European.
Oddly enough he is an exchange student from France visiting for a year. He definitely has the whole look down — skinny jeans, cut-off gloves and most importantly the coat. The coat is a Schott — a durable, well-known American brand. I went to the website to check it out and here is a bit of what I found, “these are the type of people that blaze their own trail with a quiet swagger … they’re doers, risk-takers, a** kickers, problem-solvers and free spirits”. It’s pretty cool to find a brand I have never heard of, but has an established presence in American culture. He actually purchased his on sale at Urban Outfitters for much cheaper than some of the ones on the Schott site.
His look is a pretty easy one to recreate. Really it just takes a little more effort than putting on a puffy sports jacket or a black coat that camouflages you among all other college kids battling the snow. These jackets do carry a steep price, but it’s likely that with their history they’ll be pretty durable and prove worth their cost.
If you’re looking for something a bit less expensive, check out some of these military coats at ASOS. It’s a perfect time to snag a reasonably priced, on-sale, winter coat for next year’s harsh weather. There’s likely to be a few out there that weren’t purchased after having such a ridiculously warm winter.
