STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mixing Designer and Thrifted Items

With just one more week to finish up finals, pack and move on to our summer desinations, high engery fills the UO campus.  Our spring term weather was less than satisfactory, but the transition to bright skies and warm weather is within reach.

The sun unleashes the inner love-child in all of us.  Especially in Eugene.  Out come the tye-dyed tops, flowy skirts, and daisy-chain headbands, along with a mixology of patterns.  The toned-down version of this take on Ecclectic Bohemian caught my eye, and when I approached this Fashionista about her top, the answer was pleasantly surprising: it was thirfted.  As a deal-hunter myself, I appreciate the ability to mix investment pieces with bargains to create seamless expressions of personal style.

My advice to you?  Thrift shop, bargain hunt, and take advantage of sales! I have found countless items at places such as Goodwill, Buffalo Exchange, and Red White and Blue for literally 1/16 of the price.  For those of you who can't bring yourselves to rifle through piles of second-hand clothing, check out TJ Maxx (for the maxxinista in you) or Ross where they sell designer brands for less. If you like online shopping, try Asos.com–they have great designer styles for the girl on a budget. Regardless, it sure feels good to get complimented on an item you weren't forced to shell out your savings on.
