STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Neutral Territory

This week’s Fashionista looked ready for the unexpectedly warm weather in her neutral from head to toe outfit. She kept her look simple and clean making it not only easy to put together, but also comfortable in what felt like July weather.

This stylish Fashionista is sporting an off-white tank top, a neutral skirt, a navy cardigan and that’s all! The simplicity of this look is what makes it so chic. This Fashonista finished off her look with a side braid and a pair of brown leather sandals, which gave the outfit the little pop it needed. The fact that she also decided to keep her face looking natural pulls the look together.

If you are inspired by this look, or want to take it one step further, you could start small by choosing a brightly colored sandal, like these melon colored flat sandals by Calvin Klein. Also, you can try replacing the neutral colors in this look with pastel or metallic ones. You can try wearing a mint sweater like this one from Forever 21 with this sequin bodycon skirt from Free People. To dress up your look, you can try this ombré slip from Free People, that can easily be dressed up or down.

This season the weather has been so unpredictable that it can be hard to get dressed in the morning, which is why neutrals are always a safe bet: they can be worn in any weather. Just remember to add that pop of color and you'll be ready to go.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Neutral Territory

New Yorkers are constantly moving. Whether it is to work, lunch, or an appointment—weekdays are stacked with busy streets filled with people on the move. When I spotted this Fashionista, I had to interrupt her phone call to quickly compliment her look. From her cute coif to killer clogs—this lady looked ready to conquer the concrete in style.

This Fashionista looked cool in a gauzy oatmeal lace tee paired with an adorable taupe bodycon skirt. Neutral shades are incredibly versatile and look great with just about anything. She chose to compliment her look by accessorizing with tough black accessories, floral peeptoe wedges (gorgeous), retro pins and a bold red lip. But the most noteworthy aspect of the ensemble is her marvelous hair—her prim pompadour paired with those amazing shades was a little Janelle Monae, a little Grace Jones and a whole lot of awesome.

Subtle, sophisticated and eternally chic—nude tones are always breathtaking. Chloe features a beautiful array of earthy tones in almost every collection the label creates. A soft palate of shades is suitable in any season. Neutral hues are a great investment because they can be paired with any combination of darks and brights. As autumn approaches, punch up your wardrobe by adding a sandy satchel, creamy cape or taupe booties to your rotation. The results are impeccably elegant.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Neutral Territory

Neutral colors are the building blocks of any outfit, especially for the classic summer dress. A white or beige dress is the epitome of summer apparel, reflecting summer’s light and earthy tone. The summer dress is a classic and essential piece to any wardrobe. People worry about neutral being too bland or too simple, but there are endless possibilities for this basic closet staple.

I spotted this Fashionista showcasing her classic dress with a variety of twists. Her dress, composed of white and beige stripes, is a common pattern but unique to this summer classic. The neutral colors highlight the Fashionista’s complexion and the cut of the dress creates an elegant look. The detailing of three small bundled flowers decoratively attached to her waistline highlights her figure and enhances the dress’s distinctiveness. She adds additional color by accessorizing, and successfully doesn’t overwhelm the simplicity of her outfit. This Fashionista cleverly mixes prints by combining a multicolored striped scarf to complement her dress while establishing her outfit’s color palette. She picks two colors from her scarf and picks them up in her accessories. Gladiator sandals and a leather burgundy cross-body bag provide contrast between her accessories and dress.

To replicate this look, find a neutral colored dress as the focus of your outfit and build by adding accents of color through accessories, such as a light textured scarf. Make sure to keep within a particular color scheme. Selecting too many colors will detract from the outfit’s simplicity. Neutralize this summer’s heat wave with this timeless summer dress.

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Neutral Territory

While playing with color will always bring out the wild heart in any Fashionista, there is something refreshing and sophisticated about a pure palette of neutrals. Especially this fall/winter season, neutrals like camel and beige have enjoyed special attention from the prestigious likes of Michael Kors and Stella McCartney, among others. What is so seductive about neutral tones are their bare, fresh style and soft, yet purposeful, approach.

Today's Fashionista covers the full spectrum of neutrals from chocolate brown to champaign beige. Her range of neutrals work so well since they harmonize cohesively but still stand out individually with varying materials. She wears a light beige sweater a similar shade of her wrinkled chiffon scarf. Her dark brown vest is fitted and thin, trimmed with a gold button near the collar. She wears lighter brown suede boots to finish off the look. Another great aspect of wearing all neutrals is that accessories work seamlessly into the outfit–as seen here by this Fashionista's pair of gold bangles.
